Oil on canvas, c.1937, unsigned. 6 1/2 x 4 1/2 in. (image), 8 x 6 in. (frame). Note: Rex Whistler was part of a group of young bohemian aristocrats known as the 'Bright Young Things' in 1920's London. This association brought him in contact with many celebrities and well-known personalities, many of whom he would eventually paint. (Attention: The National Gallery of Art label, previously mentioned in this description, has now gone missing and is no longer with this lot.)
