Note: Poet, actor, art critic and painter, Rene Ricard was part of Andy Warhol's circle in the 1960s, appearing in several Warhol movies including Chelsea Girls (1966) and The Andy Warhol Story (1966). Ricard went on to help found the Theater of the Ridiculous and appeared in numerous other films throughout the 70s and 80s. As a writer, Ricard wrote influential art criticism for Artforum magazine, successfully helping to launch the career of Julian Schnabel. His poetry was published in multiple books and collections in the 1970s. In the 1980s, Ricard began painting his poetry, rendering his words on canvas and paper.
