Pencil on paper, 1878, unsigned, titled lower right, dated lower left. 7 x 5 in. (sheet), 15 1/2 x 13 3/4 in. (frame). Note: Born in the Netherlands, Leonard Ochtman moved with his family to Albany, NY in 1866. He took classes at the Art Students League of NY but was mainly self-taught. For several years his NYC studio was in the same building as that of George Inness. Ochtman became known as an American Impressionist and was a founding member of the Cos Cob Art Colony with fellow artists John Twachtman, Childe Hassam and Theodore Robinson.,
