Note: Xie Zhi Liu was a noted artist in the traditional style of Chinese painting and calligraphy, and a member of the Shanghai School of Art. The government of Shanghai opened a museum dedicated to his work and that of his wife, artist Chen Peiqiu. In 2010, the Metropolitan Museum of Art held an exhibition of his work to commemorate his 100th birthday.
