Conté crayon and chalk on thin paper, 1933, signed with initials 'W.R' lower right, with label from Shepherd Gallery, NY. 23 1/2 x 18 1/2 in. (sheet), 30 1/2 x 25 1/2 in. (frame). Note: Winold Reiss was the artist commissioned to design the glass mosaic murals installed in the renovated Union Terminal railway station in Cincinnati, OH. The murals depict the cultural heritage of the U.S. with an emphasis on local industry. Reiss created the designs which were executed in glass tile by the Ravenna Tile Company of NY. This drawing is a study for the figure of a workman seen from the back. The figure is located to the left of the boat captain in the mural.
