Mixed media construction, 1977, signed 'Will Maclean', titled and dated on the reverse and on a label on the reverse. Overall 22 x 25 x 2 1/2 in. (frame).
Note: Scottish artist Will Maclean references his years as a midshipman, and later as a fisherman, in his mixed-media constructions. His works incorporate materials and imagery that represent his affinity for, and understanding of, the life of sailors and those who live by, and make a living from, the sea. His constructions are made of scavenged bits of wood, bone and other found items from ships. Reassembled, they become the narrative of old shipwrecks, sailing voyages and the history of life by the sea.
Provenance: Leinster Fine Art, London.
