Webster C. Ball (1848-1922) born in Fredricktown, Ohio and founded the Ball Watch Company. In 1891 the railroad officials commissioned Webb as their Chief Time Inspector. He was tasked to establish precision standards and to create a reliable timepiece system for railroad chronometers. This was due to a collision between Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway trains in Kipton, Ohio.

Condition

The clock rests on the cannon base with wear to the dial. Very small nicks along the marble base. Uneven patination to the cannons. Charming model. Not withstanding this report or any discussion concerning condition of a lot, all lots are offered and sold "as is" in accordance with our conditions of sale.
