Note: Dame Margaret Rutherford, OBE was an accomplished British stage, film, and television actor. Her first taste of fame followed her role in Noël Coward's play, Blithe Spirit, and her role in the 1945 screen adaptation solidified her presence in the zeitgeist. Although she started her career relatively late in life, Rutherford's comedic acting won her praise from critics and audiences alike, ultimately earning her a Golden Globe, an Academy Award, and a Special Tony award.
Dame Rutherford's daughter, Dawn Langley Simmons, documented these crewelwork pieces as having been made by her mother. The Flowers in Willow Pattern Vase piece was also designed by Rutherford.
