Signed 'S.L. Clemens', framed with an engraving of Mark Twain with a printed signature. 8 1/2 x 10 3/4 in. (sheet), 18 x 15 in. (frame).Note: Samuel L. Clemens is better known by his pen name, Mark Twain. James R. Osgood was an American publisher whose firm would become Houghton Mifflin. This letter was written prior to the Osgood & Company publication of Twain's, The Prince and the Pauper in 1882 and Life on the Mississippi in 1883.
