Note: American Robert Abbett began is artistic career as an illustrator of books and book covers, as well as work on magazines and in advertising. He moved from the mid-west to Connecticut in 1953 where he built a house on an old farm property and was inpired to paint the land and wildlife around him. Abbett is best-known today for his paintings of sporting dogs and the country life. Since his death in 2015, Abbett's market has strengthened considerably and his large portraits of sparting dogs have become highly sought-after.
