Corten steel, 1971-9, signed with initials 'R.S.' and dated at top. 40 x 20 x 22 in. Note: American sculptor Richard Stankiewicz emerged as an artist during the peak years of Abstract Expressionism. Working primarily with found and scrap metal, Stankiewicz created large, heavy sculptures imbued with a sense of lightness and humor. His work figures stylistically between early and late Modernism, with roots in Surrealism, Cubism, and later prefiguring Minimalist sculpture.,
