Signed on the works in script Agéron Paris. The eyes fitted with rubies and the clock drum probably with paste.

Note: Similar lion-formed mantle clocks are illustrated in Pierre Kjellberg, Encyclopédie de La Pendule Francaise du Moyen Age au XXe siècle, pg. 278-279, plates C-F. Animal form mantle clocks made during the Louis XVI period are rare and are generally executed with fine precision.

In good overall condition with wear to the blued metal surface, scattered areas rubbed through. Minor nicks to the enamel dial around the key holes. The clock is not in current working order, with a winding key and pendulum. Please inquire about the works. Feet probably added later in date.
