Note: Symbolist painter Puvis de Chavannes is best known for his murals, several of which were commissioned by public entities in Paris. The first of these Parisian commissions was the cycle at the Church of Saint Geneviève, now the Panthéon, which he began in 1874. The panel sketch is a study for Sainte Geneviève ravitaille Paris assiégé par Lens Huns Attila. Puvis de Chavannes worked on this mural from 1893 until 1898.
