Charcoal on paper, c. 1931, signed 'Peggy Bacon' lower center, inscribed 'whose emotion is this, anyway!' upper left, with label from Kraushaar Galleries, NY. 13 x 16 1/4 in. (sight), 20 1/2 x 24 1/2 in. (frame). Note: This study was made in preparation for the drypoint Morning Exercises (Flint 117) which was printed in 1933. The scene is the New York Philharmonic in a rehearsal conducted by Leon Barzin. Provenance: Helen Farr Sloan. Condition: Splits, tears and a loss upper left corner affecting the inscription and at places along the upper sheet edge. Pale staining. Not examined out of frame.
