Three-part painted screen, 1947, signed 'Vertès and dated upper right. 6 ft. x 8 ft. 3 in. Note: Vertès was a French costume designer and illustrator. He won two Academy awards (Best Costume Design and Best Art Direction) for his work on the film Moulin Rouge in 1952. He designed the original murals in the Café Carlyle, and in Peacock Alley in the Waldorf Astoria.
