Note: This work was included in a 2006 auction at Christie's, London, that celebrated the centenary of designer John Fowler. ‘A Tribute to John Fowler: Furniture and Decorations’ was inspired by an exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum. Fowler, together with his business partner Nancy Lancaster, has been credited with the revival of the English country house style that focused on vivid and elegant original paint colors, classical English furniture, and above all pretty, flowered chintzes used for soft upholstery and curtains.
