Oil on canvas, signed 'J.B. Bristol' lower right. 15 x 23 in., 20 x 28 in. (frame).Note: Columbia County native John Bunyon Bristol was born in Hillsdale, NY and studied painting with Henry Ary in Hudson in the late 1840's. He eventually settled in New York City where he exhibited and became a member of the National Academy of Design. Bristol travelled extensively throughout New England and the Hudson Valley each summer, painting landscape views of the regions.
