Note: During the 1940s, Johann Berthelsen and his family lived on an estate property in Fairfield County, CT that was the setting for the movie Mr. Blandings Builds his Dream House, starring Cary Grant and Myrna Loy. The scene depicted here was painted during the blizzard of 1947/48 from the front door of the Berthelsen’s cottage on the estate. Pictured are the artist’s two sons, John and Lee.
