The set of twenty-four etchings on laid paper, 1621, with thin or thread margins, presumably first state (of three) before the addition of numbers, matted and framed in groups of eight. All 3 x 3 3/4 in. (plate), 19 x 13 1/2 in. (frame).Note: The etchings in Callot's album Balli di Sfessania depict Neapolitan dances known as Sfessania in the local dialect. These dances are characterized by violent and sometimes obscene gestures that delighted Callot and which he has depicted in detail.Literature: Lieure 379-402.
