Note: John Boydell (1719-1804) financed and published the ambitious portfolio of engravings of images from Shakespeare's plays. He commissioned various artists to do the illustrations, and opened a gallery exhibition of the works in 1789. The first set of engravings were issued in 1791. In 1802, Boydell published the nine-volume folio edition, and the next year a two-volume elephany folio. Benjamin Blom published reprints of all the images in 1768.
Condition: All with wide margins, some with deckel edges; all with foxing; some staining and surface soiling.,
