Oil on canvas, unsigned, lined. 13 x 16 in., 20 1/2 x 23 1/2 in. (frame). Note: Jusepe de Ribera's Drunken Silenus was painted in Naples in 1626. The figure of Silenus is shown reclining, offering a cup of wine to the figure behind him. The painting was once owned by a Flemish merchant who acquired it after the artist's death in 1652. The work entered the collection of the House of Bourbon - Two Sicilies as part of their property in Naples where it remained, eventually coming part of the Museo di Capodimonte.,
