14 3/4 x 40 in., raised on a stand, (overall).
Note: The original model for the grasshopper weathervane was created by L.W. Cushing & Sons, Waltham, Massachusetts. It is pictured on page 17 of the L.W. Cushing & Sons catalog of 1883. E.G. Washburne & Company of New York also manufactured a very similar model of a grasshopper in the early 20th century. However, there are some subtle differences between the Cushing and Washburne weathervanes. The most obvious difference is the Washburne weathervane has bulbs on the end of the antennae.
Condition
In good condition with a gilt patination throughout. Lacking a pole on the top which is now plugged. Very minor age splits, the left antenna is repaired and possibly replaced. Small losses on the tail. Good old surface.
Notwithstanding this report or any discussion concerning condition of a lot, all lots are offered and sold "as is" in accordance with our conditions of sale.
