Note: An identical Tall Chest of Drawers is Illustrated in The Knight of Glin and James Peill, Irish Furniture, plate 207, as by Theophilus Jones and circa 1767. 'It is currently located in the National Museum of Ireland. It is one of few labeled pieces of Irish 18th century furniture. Accordingly to the label, Theophilus Jones of Mountrath Street, 'Makes and Sells, all kind of Desks, Tall-boys, chairs, Tables and every article in the Mahogany way'. The label was printed in 1767, in the same street as his workshop. Between 1774 and 1777 Jones is recorded at 33 Mary Street, therefore giving us a before and after date for the marking of this tallboy. Its tall narrow form is common in Ireland".
