Note: George Earl was an avid sportsman and sporting painter. His daughter, the talented dog painter Maud Earl, was his student and went on to surpass him in notariety. Earl encouraged his daughter to attend the Royal Female School of Art. Maud Earl credits her father with encouraging her talent and helping to set her apart from other dog painters during the Victorian era. 

Condition

Some craquelure in the white areas at center. A few tiny losses and rubbed spots showinng mostly around the edges. Otherwise in good condition.
