Note: In October 2020, a year and a half before his sudden and unexpected death, Donald Baechler wrote a short note about a series of drawings he and George Condo did in the early 1980s while sharing a derelict townhouse on the Lower East Side. Baechler wrote "We had bedrooms on the habitable parlor floor, and we each used parts of the gutted upper floors as studio space. We were often up until the early hours, working and talking about art, and an important part of our continuing conversation involved talking and making small drawings for each other, to facilitate visualizing various pictorial ideas."
