Christie's catalog note: While this charming model has long been attributed to Etienne-Maurice Falconet, even being mentioned in Louis Réau's iconic publication of 1922, it is more likely 'in the manner of' Falconet. And while it retains the fine modeling, carving and grace of many late 18th century French marbles, it is probably a 19th century version.
