Including Victoria Queen of England, Napoleon III Emperor, Lord Brougham and Richard Cobden. Marked 'Bois Durci' on the reverse.
4 1/2 in. diam.
Note: Bois Durci is a technique inspired by the French poet Charles Francois Le Page in 1855. He mixed sawdust with oxblood to make a hardened "wood". The mixture was ground into a powder, colored to simulate wood, steam heated, then pressed into a heated steel mold.
