36 x 24 1/2 x 24 in., seat height 15 1/2 in.
Note: The above offered lot is part of a larger suite. The remaining four chairs from the six at Partridge are likely those in the collection of Ann Getty. The rest of the suite is in the collection at Caramoor and retain their original painted silk faille covers, the design of which is reputedly based on one of Marie Antoinette’s dresses. Karl Lagerfeld used the same pattern in his Monte Carlo residence, villa la Vigie, where he lived from 1986-1997.
Condition
In good, restored condition with old worming and minor restorations to both seat rails. Minor losses to the feet. Scattered areas of repainting, minor nicks and wear to the painted surfaces. The silk upholstery with scattered tears and fraying to the armrests and seats (to one chair) and both with pale staining. Structurally sound, beautifully carved.
Notwithstanding this report or any discussion concerning condition of a lot, all lots are offered and sold "as is" in accordance with our conditions of sale.
