With an incurved top rail with outscrolled ends, above the upholstered backrest, with reeded papyrus carved armrests terminating in a scroll, raised on acanthus carved supports, above the upholstered seat, raised on reeded tapering legs ending on papyrus carved feet.Veuve Meunier and this chair is listed in Denise Ledoux-Lebard, Les Ebenistes du XIXe Siecle, 1795-1889, Paris, 1984, p. 480-481. A pair of identical fauteuils were made between 1850-1853, and were sold in Sotheby's, New York, April 7, 1984. Meunier worked on 8, cour de la Juiverie, Paris, Bastille. 39 1/2 x 27 x 23 1/2 in., height of seat 19 3/4 in.
