Note: The above offered lot is a fine example of late neoclassical refinement. The clock is chiseled with a classical urn with ram masks holding foliate swags and raised on incurved legs ending on hoof feet, above the case of break-front outline centered by an enamel dial flanked by foliate scrolled pilasters terminating in a sun flower reserve issuing a laurel swag, above rinceau and bound laurel decoration, above a deep acanthus cast border over a thin rinceau border, raised on cabochon cast bun feet. A similar clock with the identical central section is illustrated in Pierre Kjellberg, Encyclopédie de La Pendule Francaise du Moyen Age au XXe siècle, 1997, p. 169, plate B.
