Note: According to the Christie's footnote, "this piece is likely a part of a larger suite of George IV ebonized furniture supplied by Gillow's of Lancaster to Mere Hall in Cheshire, England. Commissioned by Peter Langford-Brooke (d. 1840). This piece appears in the 1840 inventory of Mrs. Julia Langford-Brooke's ebonized bedroom suite comprising a dressing-room, a bedroom and a sitting-room." The above offered lot was sold in the Christie's London, May 22, 1994 auction of the contents of Mere Hall, as lot 89 in the sale and sold for 11,500 GPB.

Condition
