Oil on board, 1962, signed 'F. Porter' and dated lower right, with label from Tibor de Nagy Gallery, NY. 9 1/4 x 12 in., 10 1/2 x 13 in. (frame). Note: American Realist painter Fairfield Porter worked in a representational style at the height of the Abstract Expressionist period, insisting on the authenticity of his subjects rather than an ideology. He believed that Realism and Abstraction maintained a close relationship, each relying on the other to be successful. Porter was influenced by the French Nabis painters, their palette and fluid sense of line and form can be seen here.
