23 x 30 in. (sight), 37 x 44 in. (frame). Note: The frame on this work was made by Irish-Australian artist Isaac Whitehead (c. 1819-1881). Whitehead was the preeminent frame maker in Melbourne during the 1860s and 70s, supplying frames to many well-known artists including Thomas Clark, Louis Buvelot and Nicholas Chevalier. Originally from Ireland, Whitehead learned his trade from his father who was a skilled carver and gilder.
