Note: Sir Charles Wentworth Dilke, 1st Baronet (1810-1869), was a Whig politician, a patron of the arts and an avid horticulturalist. He was a strong supporter of the Great Exhibition of 1851, for which the queen offered a knighthood. Dilke was made one of the Royal Commissioners for the Great Exhibition of 1862 and was soon after made a baronet.
