Oil on canvas, unsigned. 27 x 44 in., 31 x 48 in. (frame).Note: According to the Warren Register of Colonial Tall Ships, the clipper ship Romsdal was built in 1877 by R. Steele and Co. Master. It was a passenger ship captained by A. Whyte and was known as a 'family ship' as Mrs. Whyte was always onboard to do the cooking and cleaning. The Romsdal ended her career in 1891 during a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. All that was found of the ship was a lifebuoy and some small wreckage.
