Note: James Lamb (1816-1903) was a cabinetmaker whose work was recognized with medals for highly stylized sideboards at the 1862 International Exhibition of London and the 1867 Exposition Universelle in Paris. Working with such furniture designers as Bruce Talbert and Charles Bevan, he had a workshop located in Castleford and shop at 16 John Dalton Street in Manchester with over 180 employees. In 1899 he merged with two other firms to become Goodall, Lamb and Heighway. Examples of his work are in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
