Oil on canvas, 1947, signed 'EP Jones' and dated lower left.
40 1/2 x 60 in., unframed.
Note: The view in this painting is from the front porch of Goodhap on the grounds of the Sylvania estate in Barrytown, NY looking towards the Hudson River and the Catskills. One of the smaller mansions of the Gilded Age, Sylvania was built in 1905 for John Jay Chapman. Chapman's wife, Elizabeth Chanler Chapman, lived at Goodhap at the end of her life. Jones spent some of his youth in the Hudson Valley, inspiring the subjects for several of his paintings.
The estate of the artist.
