Notes:
Asian lacquer panels were incorporated into Dutch furniture at the beginning of the 18th century. In 1780s, Dutch furniture maker Matthijs Horrix supplied Princess Wilhelmina with a number of pieces inlaid with oriental lacquer and the practice was imitated by other cabinet-makers as well. The central coronet on the panel is that of 'schildknapp' in Dutch, or Esquire, an order in the hierarchy of Dutch nobility.

The enamel pulls original. Veneer and lacquer lifting, age cracks along the top. The lacquer restored with minor veneer replacements along the border.
