Ink and wash on paper mounted on paper, unsigned. 9 3/8 x 13 1/2 in. (sheet), 17 x 22 in. (frame). Note: This image is similar to the 16th Century Italian engraving of the same subject after a drawing by Raphael or Giulio Ramano (see Bartsch XIV. 192. 240). The composition was inspired by a sarcophagus representing the Triumph of Bacchus and Ariadne. An example of the c. 1531 engraving is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.,
