The rectangular hinged top with rounded corners, opening to a mahogany gaming surface, above the cushion molded frieze, carved at the corners with rosettes, raised on incurved foliate carved supports terminating in serpent masks, joined by a tripartite shelf, raised on elaborately carved winged legs with foliate carved scrolled knees with eagle head feet. 29 3/4 x 37 1/2 x 18 3/4 in.Note: An identical card table from The Wunsch Americana Foundation was exhibited in the New York State Museum, Albany, NY, in 1988; NEW YORK FURNITURE, The Federal Period, 1788 - 1825. The note in the catalog reads as follows: This intricately carved table has acanthus-leaf and scroll-carved legs terminating with dragons'-heads on a shelf supported by feet carved in the shape of an eagle's head. Its attribution is based on a virtually identical card table in a private collection bearing the label of Michael Allison, circa 1820.""
