Note: This work was painted a year before Wimar returned to Germany to study at the Dusseldorf Academy in 1852. The subject of Native Americans in the American West is one that he focused on extensively during this period and represents the mythologizing of the westward expansion and colonization of the new territories by white settlers. 

Craquelure with some surface soiling. Otherwise in good condition.
