Note: American architect Cass Gilbert designed the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House in New York City, numerous museums, capitol buildings, and most notably the Woolworth Building and the U.S. Supreme Court Building. He was an early proponent of skyscrapers and progressive architecture, but was considered a "conservative", using classical lines to reflect historic traditions. He ended his storied career as a member of the design committee that oversaw the modernist design of Rockefeller Center.,
