Note: Bugatti's work was often decorated with applied materials recalling the Syrian, Moorish and Byzantine traditions. This chair is a departure in its simplicity. A similarly simple chaise à bascule (rocking chair), dated circa 1905, was sold in Sotheby's Paris Important Design: from Noguchi to Lalanne on 26 May, 2021, lot 73.
In worn condition with the parchment peeling back and torn on the back and seat. The ink drawing faded and incomplete.
