Oil on board, c. 1882, signed with initials 'J.H.T.' lower left, with label from Chapellier Galleries, NY.

11 1/4 x 16 in., 19 1/2 x 23 1/2 in. (frame).

Note: According to Chapellier Galleries, this painting was included in the 1966 exhibition of works by John Twachtman at the Cincinnati Art Museum. At the time of acquisition by the current owner, this work was accompanied by a letter from a Twachtman specialist dated 1985, that confirmed the attribution.. In 2016, the painting was reviewed by the current Twachtman catalogue raisonnée project and found to be not by the hand of the artist.

Condition

Some unobtrusive surface soiling. The board with a horizontal split showing on the reverse. Otherwise in very good condition.Not withstanding this report or any discussion concerning condition of a lot, all lots are offered and sold "as is" in accordance with our conditions of sale.
