26 x 20 in., 32 1/2 x 26 in. (frame).
Note: The sitter in this portrait is said to be Elisha Hayden (1734-1812), son of Elisha Hayden (1698-1758) and Lydia Fairbanks (1710-1765). According to family lore, the portrait hung for many years in the home of Hayden's nephew, Edward D. Hayden (1833-1908), in Woodburn, MA. Edward Hayden was a member of Congress. The painting was passed by descent to Hayden Channing. It hung in his family's home in Lenox, MA. The painter was said to be Washington Allston (1779-1843).
