Paper, paper maché, wood, and wire, 2010, signed 'Allyson Ross' and dated on the back, with label from The Wassaic Project, Wassaic, NY.
52 x 27 x 21 in.
Note: Ross uses her mixed media practice to draw attention to what she calls the 'limited and predictable' experience we have when visiting natural monuments, many of which we know through iconic photographs. Here she constructs her view of El Capitan, the granite monolith formation in Yellowstone National Park that has been widely photographed and filmed by artists, tourists and rock climbers.
Works from the Melva Bucksbaum Collection, Sold to Benefit Art for Access at Bennington College.
