Note: Born in Russia, Archipenko moved to Paris to study art in 1908, and then to the United States in 1923 where he would live for the rest of his life. He opened a series of art schools in Europe and in the United States, including schools in lower Manhattan, as indicated on the label on this drawings, and in Woodstock, NY, Los Angeles and Chicago.
