Bronze, inscribed 'P.J. David D'Angers' and titled on the front, with the Réduction Mécanique, A. Collas foundry mark on the base.

Note: The foundry mark on this work refers to the mechanical reproductive process invented by Achille Collas in 1836. Collas built a machine to reproduce sculpture on a reduced scale and was credited with transforming the industry in the late 19th century.
