Mezzotint on wove paper, a proof in black. 26 x 17 1/4 in. (sight), 35 x 25 1/2 in. (frame).
Note: Golfer Henry Callendar was one of the pioneers of golf in England. He is shown here in the Field Marshall's uniform of the Blackheath Society of Golfers. The original 1812 mezzotint by William Ward was a small edition of approximately 50 impressions. A 1916 version was engraved by William Henderson.
