Engraving in black on wove paper, 1879, with margins, published by W. Wellstoodt Co., Washington, D.C., with label from Arthur Ackerman & Son, Inc., New York. 20 1/4 x 25 1/4 in. (sight), 23 1/2 x 28 1/2 in. (frame).Note: In 1876, the Westminster Club commissioned a Pointer to be brought from England for its members to use for breeding purposes in the United States. The English championship dog, named Sensation, was registered to the Westminster Kennel Club who used him as a stud to strengthen the breeding stock of its members. Several artists painted Sensation, whose likeness in this engraving was used as the cover of Westminster's show catalogue from 1936 until 1979.
